Saskatchewen Romance Writers 2007 9th annual contest.
postal submission-deadline 15/5/07, results to be posted.
update 26/9/07:- Still haven’t had a nibble back from this competition. I had confirmation that they received it, but no word yet about the results. With my recent computer crash, I’ll have to visit the website to see what’s been happening as I lost all my emails/addy’s last week.
The website states that score sheets will be mailed out no later than September 30th, so I should hear about this soon. Hopefully before my next RWNZ meeting on the 4th October. Would like to have something to report other than my usual rhubarb and prevarication.
Results arrived 6/10/07
Well, the long awaited envelope arrived, and with a ton of notes on the judges pages, which is great. This entry was sent before I deleted the entire first chapter, which I did before sending it off to the Strictly Single contest in Sept, so the remarks relate to the original ms without the all-important change.
Marks
Much more evenly spaced, but still good. All out of 100 possible points.
1. 73/100 - “It’s an exciting story.”
2. 62/100 - “An exciting story unfolding here! Lots of good nautical detail as well, which shows research.”
3. 56/100 - “I enjoyed reading your synopsis – you have a strong, complex plot. You have excellent skills, and should have a bright writing future – good luck!”
So there you go. Lots of notes with these judges, lots of great comments and constructive criticism, which I will take on board. On the whole, the judges were very kind and liked the whole premise and set up.
I couldn’t have asked for more.
